Chris Alford, DVM, MS

Diplomate, ACVS

Dr. Alford grew up in Southern Missouri and received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri.  Following graduation, he completed a surgical internship at the renowned Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Ketucky and a surgical residency at Auburn University, subsequently completing a Master’s degree and achieving board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Accepting a position with Milton Equine Hospital outside of Toronto, Dr. Alford spent several years focusing on sport horses and racehorse injuries.  In 2012, Dr. Alford joined the staff of the Morrie Waud Equine Clinic UW affiliate, as a surgeon and then The University of Wisconsin’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

As a youth, Dr. Alford learned the art of saddle making and leather work, creating beautiful custom pieces for himself, family and customers.  Personal interests include woodworking, hunting, and fishing.  He enjoys spending time with his family, teaching his daughter to hunt and fish, and is a board member at his local church.

Liz moved to Wisconsin in 2012 and shares her home with her husband Chris, children Caitlin and Jackson, and a Golden Retriever, Sam.  Liz and Chris are avid horse lovers and have three horses residing with them; Dallas, Jewel and Sky.  Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Business Management with a minor in Equine Science from Truman State University.  She has worked in both small and large animal clinics and university facilities, caring for a variety of species including companion animals, pocket pets, birds, horses, goats, deer and even a wallaby!

Originally from Missouri, Liz grew up showing horses in 4-H and AQHA with a focus on Reining, Trail, Horsemanship and speed events, qualifying in Reining for the AQHYA World Championships.  Personal interests include special needs/disability advocacy and awareness, swimming and water safety, and child safety.  She enjoys spending time with her family around the house, on the lake, taking their children to new experiences, and cheering for her hometown KC Chiefs & Royals, and Auburn University football.
